Meriden Community Resources: Showers, Soup Kitchens, Food Pantries, Shelters [Update Sat.]
The Meriden Health Department released a list of resources in English and Spanish that the community can use this week to cope with the prolonged power outage in the city.
MRE's
Meals-Ready-to-Eat or for residents to pick up at the City Garage at 55 Michael Drive on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
- Saturday and Sunday hours for pickup are 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Warming and Overnight Shelters

The two centers are open from noon to 4 p.m. as warming centers and from 4 p.m. to 8 a.m. as emergency shelters throughout the weekend. The overnight/warming shelter at Edison Middle School, 1355 North Broad Street, Meriden closed at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Shelter and MRE Information in Spanish:
Los refugios de emergencia en la escuela Lincoln Middle School y el Meriden Senior Center estaran abiertos sobre el fin de semana. Estos lugares estaran abiertos desde las 8:00am-4:00pm como una estacion para calentarse, los refugios estaran abiertos empezando a las 4:00pm.
El departamento de salud tambien quieren dejar la comunidad saber sobre los recursos que estaran disponibles sobre el fin de semana:
- Lugares para banarse estaran disponibles en el Meriden YMCA, en el West Main Street, durante las horas de operacion.
- Un local de distribucion para comidas listas para comer (MRE’s) y agua en botella estararan abiertos en el 55 Michael Drive, en Meriden. Los residentes de Meriden tendran que traer identificacion y la comida sera distribuida por familia. Horas de operacion son:
- 2:00pm-6:00pm, Viernes, el 4 de noviembre.
- 11:00am-5:00pm, Sabado, el 5 de noviembre y domingo, el 6 de noviembre.
