Meriden Man Charged with DUI

Police in Port Chester, N.Y., say he had twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system.

 

A Meriden man was charged with drunken driving in Port Chester, N.Y., early this morning after he was found sleeping at the wheel of his car, according to .

At around 2 a.m., police say, Ignacio Moran, 57, of 61 West Main St., was found passed out behind the wheel of a 2008 Mitsubishi on Westchester Avenue in Port Chester. The car's key was in the ignition and the car was running, police said.

A village police officer reached into the car, turned off the engine and removed the keys. Police said that when the officer woke him up, Moran tried several times to start the car — even though the key was gone — and tried to put the car in gear.

When questioned by police, Moran told a village officer that he thought he was in Connecticut. Moran was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated because he had more than twice the legal limit of alcohol in his system, police said. He also was cited for driving an unregistered vehicle.
