Viewfinder: Celebrating Women at Lincoln Middle School

A seventh grade exhibit in Lincoln's main hall features women of yesterday and today who've made a difference.

seventh graders teamed up with the school's resident artist Christine Webster this spring to make posters and 3-D exhibits about people "Making A Difference." Their work is on display in the school's Times Square-themed main hall.

In a tie-in with Women's History Month and International Women's Day, students and parents gathered in the hall Friday morning, March 9, to hear guest speaker Bambi Mroz from the Connecticut Women’s Hall of Fame discuss women who've made a difference.

Though the exhibit includes both women and men of note, in honor of Women's History Month, we've put up a sampling of the student artwork that focuses solely on influential women.

The project itself, according to Lincoln's principal Leo Lavallee, is part of Lincoln's designation as a HOT - or Higher Order of Thinking - school by the state. HOT schools aim to teach core subjects through the arts.

The exhibit will be up for a few more weeks, and the art will be on display for the school's big event of the year the Third annual  on Friday, March 16.
