Explore Connecticut's Connecticut to Civil War With David Koch

This professor of history at Housatonic Community College will talk at Meriden's library about Connecticut's arsenal of the Union with factories producing uniforms, guns and equipment for the armies in massive profusion.

David Koch, Associate Professor of History at Housatonic Community College in Bridgeport, will present his program Connecticut in the Civil War in the Griffin Room on Tuesday, September 24 at 6:30 pm. This program is co-sponsored by the Meriden Historical Society and Meriden Public Library.

Connecticut provided a greater percentage of its citizens as Union manpower than any other state. Its soldiers and sailors underwent triumph and tragedy in every theater of operations in the war.

Connecticut was the arsenal of the Union with factories producing uniforms, guns, and equipment for the Union armies in unheard-of profusion, making Union armies the best equipped in human history until that time. This presentation paints a portrait of Connecticut in the Civil War.
