Hot Temperatures, Cool Centers

Meriden officials have designated the city library and senior center as cooling centers and a local business has opened its doors to the pet community.

With the temperature continuing to climb - it is predicted to reach neary 100ºF today - the city has opened two cooling centers for residents to seek shelter from the sun and humidity.

The on Miller Street and the Meriden senior center on West Main Street have both been disignated as cooling centers.

For more information on other locations available as a place to cool down log on to the United Way of Connecticut Info Line site or call 211.

For those with pets, For Your Paws Only has opened a cooling center for pets and their owners. For more information call (203) 379-0650 or visit the faciity at 477 S. Broad St.
