Route 66 Bridge Repair Project To Begin This Week

The work will involve closing of shoulders of I-91 that passes beneath the Meriden bridge.


The Connecticut Department of Transportation has announced that work is scheduled to begin Friday, April 11, on Bridge No. 01837 carrying Route 66 westbound over I-91 in Meriden. 

The project will include structural steel beam-end repairs, bearing replacement and painting of the repaired areas. A lane shift will be constructed and temporary barrier be placed in the shoulders at the bridge location to construct a work staging area in both directions of I-91.

LANE CLOSURE INFO:

I-91 both directions: Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Long-term shoulder closures will be in effect on I-91 at the bridge for the duration of the project.

This project is part of an 18-bridge rehab project was awarded to Odyssey Contracting Corporation of Houston, PA at a cost of $3,964,335 that is scheduled to be completed in May 2015.
