VIDEO: 'I Don't Think Anybody In East Haven Will Go Hungry This Holiday Season'

The generosity of East Haven residents was in full view this week at the East Haven Food Pantry, as volunteers organized numerous baskets for holiday season meals.

East Haven Food Pantry director Phyllis LaRoche spoke to East Haven Patch about this year's holiday meal basket drive, which is already off to a strong start for the season.

This Thanksgiving, the pantry handed out 236 turkeys with all the trimings, and 35 $10 dollar gift cards for those who did not want turkeys but were in need of a food basket.

And volunteers are hopeful that that level of community support and giving will continue for the remainder of the holiday season as well as into the new year.

Mike, You hit the nail on the head. I am embarrassed about asking for help. The people in my town are not kind to those in need, thus adding insult to injury. I lost seven pounds this week. Because I would rather starve than deal with Joe and his pimp brigade.

How many people are suffering in silence because of people like Joe, Tammy, Hank, and Danielle? If it were not for the generous support of my family, I would have surely starved long ago. Damn those who would further exploit the suffering.
