Viewfinder: National Night Out

On a beautiful summer Tuesday evening in City Park, huge crowds turned out for this annual community anti-crime celebration.

Perfect weather brought out big crowds for National Night Out at City Park Tuesday evening. Since 1984, Meriden has taken part in the nationwide event, part of America's Night Out Against Crime.

Sponsored by the Police Department and Target Stores, the celebration brings together city officials, safety organizations, community groups, and of course the citizens of Meriden, in an evening of fun, food, entertainment, and community awareness.

"This may be the biggest crowd I've ever seen," said Mayor Mike Rohde in his welcoming address.
