Veterans Day at the Farmers' Market

From a city press release:

The purpose of this day is to recognize those who once served or are currently serving their country. This day will also give all local Veterans organizations an opportunity to highlight their activities and to recruit new members.

The Downtown Meriden Farmers Market operates on Saturday mornings from 8 AM to noon and more than 250 people shop there every week. In addition to produce vendors, there are always a variety of local craftsmen and artisans who sell handmade soaps, spices, kettle corn and other unique items in addition to the freshest produce in town.

All Meriden veterans and their families are invited to come to the market on September 24th, when several veterans’ groups in Meriden will have a booth at the market to explain their services for veterans. These groups provide a variety of services including scholarship programs, donations to individual veterans and campaigns to write supportive letters to actively serving military. One group provides assistance and referrals to Ct veterans.

There will be a short “thank you and memorial” flag ceremony at 10:00.
