Meriden Youth Theater: Be Our Guest!

The group's production of Beauty and the Beast runs this weekend at Edison Middle School.

The Meriden Youth Theater invites you to "be our guest" at this weekend's production of Beauty and the Beast. The show runs Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 and Sunday afternoon at 2 at Thomas Edison Middle School.

A different cast performs each day, giving about 80 young people from the greater Meriden area the opportunity to take to the stage. The actors range in age from 5 to 19.

Many of the kids return year after year, taking part in spring and fall productions and the theater's summer camp program. Dela Carnot's son Demetre, a sixth grader at Washington Middle School, has been part of the group for five years.

Meriden Youth Theater, affiliated with the YMCA, has a policy of casting all who wish to participate. According to its website, the program teaches this philosophy: "It's not how big a part you get, but how big you make your part."
