New Girl, Raising Hope, Chopped Champions

New Girl, 9 p.m., Fox

This is funny. Or at least the premiere was. Sometimes it is downhill after that. But Zooey Deschanel is adorable, and the three men are actually well thought out stereotypes as opposed to the usual sitcom stereotype. And who doesn’t love a show that references Dirty Dancing like a hundred times in the pilot?

So … the season premiere of Modern Family did not make me laugh. Not even really a smile or a grin. The show that won every comedy Emmy except one did not tickle my funny bone. But you know what did? The premiere of this. Hilarious. Almost busted a gut. Seriously. Try it.

My 10-year-old and I became addicted to both this, the champions version, and the regular show, over the summer. Not only is the host Ted from Queer Eye, but the challenges are awesome! “Chefs, open your baskets.” And then make something delicious out of tilapia, Diet Coke, wasabi and Cool Ranch Doritos! Tonight, in the grand finale, “One two-time champ can claim the prize once again; catfish in the first basket; cherry soda.” See!
