It's Your Business: Elizabeth Frederick Photography

From babies to brides, she captures it all.

Back in high school, Elizabeth Frederick was interested in photography.  But since she couldn’t afford a camera, she put the idea of becoming a photographer on the back burner.  But years later, the “photo itch” struck again, thanks to two little girls named Paige and Aubrey.

“My interest in photography didn’t re-spark until I had my second child,” explains Frederick, who grew up in Portland, Conn.  “They truly have been my inspiration.”

Elizabeth Frederick Photography specializes in all types of photos including: maternity, newborns, children, families, high school seniors, and weddings.  Meriden Patch wanted to know, “Who’s easier to deal with, brides or babies?”

“Both are equally tough, but in different ways,” says Frederick.  “Babies take a lot of time and patience to get them into deep sleep to get those cute poses.  Brides just know what they want and will do just about anything to have it that way.”

Frederick says she loves taking pictures, because moments can only last so long- but a photo can last forever.

“Years to come when you’ve forgotten those precious little toes, or the exact details of your wedding cake, my photos will be there to remind you.”

Frederick is so passionate about her job, that even a little dirt won’t stop her from snapping the perfect picture.

“A few weeks ago when I did a “smash cake session” we were outdoors and the grass was still wet from the rain the day before.  I literally rolled around in the grass to get shots of this little girl eating her cake.  My clothes were so soaked that I had to call my next client and tell them I had to change before seeing them.”

Frederick currently runs her studio out of her Meriden home on Keats Road, but hopes one day to open a traditional studio.  She says most of her clients are from New Haven and East Haven, but would love more Meriden customers.  And while it may only be July, she’s already thinking about holiday photos and has discounts available if you book now.
