Is the Federal Government willing to attack or go to war with American Citizens?

The President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad has killed hundreds of Syrian citizens, be it rebels or innocent bystanders, including woman and children. President al-Assad has used heavy firepower such as artillery, tanks and air assault to accomplish this, those actions have been condemned by the President of the United States and Congress, as well as it should be. But is the US Government willing to do the same to the American people?

We’ve already have heard several stories regarding the use of unmanned drones to kill American citizens abroad, the US Department of Justice has defended the Obama’s administration authority to do so, we have also heard the use of drones in and around American cities for surveillance purpose, raising concerns of American citizen being targeted in our own soil, but if this does not concern you maybe the statement from a current sitting U.S. Senator will.

On February 24, 2013, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy held a town hall meeting in Manchester, CT. During his discussion about gun violence, he quipped saying “frankly I would argue that in a world where the government has F16 and nuclear weapons, assault rifles would not do the trick.” Referring to the argument that 2nd amendment was put in place to protect us against a tyrannical government. The Senator realized his remark and stated he should not have said that and tried to “dial it back.” Could this off the cuff remark be something that has already been discussed, is the US Government willing and prepared to go to war and suppress by any means possible, including the use of fighter jets and nuclear weapons against the American people over the 2nd Amendment or any other enumerated Bill of Rights?
