Political Party, which one do you support?

Which party do you align yourself with the most.

In 1792 the Democratic - Republican Party, the first opposition political party in the U.S. was organized by Thomas Jefferson and others who believed in agrarian-based, decentralized, democratic individual state government. It was establish to oppose the Federalist, who believed in a strong national government.

In 1824 after 32 years, because of continued disagreements the Democratic – Republican Party split, with one becoming the Democratic Party and the other the National Republican Party. The Democratic Party was lead by Andrew Jackson and the National Republican Party was lead by John Quincy Adams and Henry Clay.

Andrew Jackson the 7th President of the United States believed that the presidency represented the will of the people, and as such should have broad authority. In 1832 Jackson imposed a tariff on southern states and threaten them with military action if they did not collect the tariffs. Jackson also believed and promoted slavery, he also supported the state of Georgia expulsion of Indians from their land to the west, using the Indian Removal Act of 1830 and defying a Supreme Court Ruling Worchester vs. Georgia that said they could not be forcefully moved.

By contrast to a certain extent, John Quincy Adams, the 6th President, was similar in beliefs at least initially, he believed in centralized government the same as the Federalist, but also believed and argued for freedom of speech and was against the 1936 “gag rule” passed by congress that would automatically tabled petitions against slavery, he also stood against any measures that would extend slavery.

However the National Republican party continued to have disagreements, especially between those that favored a strong national government and those that preferred a smaller national government and states’ rights, and in 1834 the party split yet again. The more conservative faction of the Democratic-Republican Party and others formed the Whig Party as an alternative to Andrew Jackson’s presidency, they saw Jackson as a power grabber and criticized the growth of executive power that was associated with him, his brutal and arbitrary treatment of Native Americans tribes and his quest for territorial expansion, they compared him to the Kings of England James II and George III.

Just like the Democratic-Republican Party and the National Republican Party, there was still disagreements and division within its ranks, this time between the Conscience Whigs of the north (anti-slavery) faction and the Cotton Whigs of the south (the pro-slavery) faction. By the end of 1854 the party disbanded.

Many voters, who abandon the Whig Party, initially joined the “Know-Nothing Party”. Most Northern (conscience) Whigs joined the newly formed Republican Party and the Southern (cotton) Whigs joined the Democratic Party.

The newly formed Republican Party in 1856 was composed of the Know-Nothing Party (Native Americans), The Whigs and the Free Soil Party, all where against slavery and four years later their candidate Abraham Lincoln, won the presidency of the United States and issue the Emancipation Proclamation freeing slaves from captivity.

History here tells the how the Democrats and Republicans evolved and who they were, one wanted power while the other preferred freedom.  The Republican Party has gone through various reformations, in order to weed out those that believed in bigger government and slavery.

My Conclusion

I have come to understand that Democrats believe in power and control (modern day slavery), as far as I am concern that has not change. They have not gone through many changes like the Republicans, that’s because their belief system has always been the same. That same system still exists today, except now they employ it through taxation and social welfare to exert that power and control.

The Democrats have become masters of deception, convincing the minority population that they care about them and that they have their interest at heart, all while they continued to erode our freedoms and maintain their power controlling minorities and other groups through “free stuff” and socialize programs. It is interesting how the Democrats are the first ones to always bring up racism and demonize the republicans and others who do not agree with them.

As a Hispanic, I for one have left that plantation a long time ago, I believe in individual freedom, traditional values, less government and self sufficiency. The less government we have, the less intrusion into our lives we incur and fewer taxes there would be. Bigger government equals more expenses and higher taxes. Ever looked at your paycheck?

Don’t take my word for it, do the research yourself and make your own determinations, don’t let distractions, propaganda and entertainment keep you from getting informed, pay attention to your elected officials, get involved and vote them out.

Which party do you prefer, slavery or freedom?
