City to Celebrate Flag Day at 11 a.m., Award Fifth Grade Essay Winners

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman expected to show for ceremony, plus Elks Club will congratulate fifth grade essay winners.

The city, in coordination with the Meriden Elks Club, will hold a ceremony at 11 a.m. today outside of City Hall in honor of Flag Day.

Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman, the Antique Veterans, Elks, Military Chaplain US Air Force Major Monsignor Kevin Randall, and city officials are each expected to take part in the event.

The ceremony will also award the winners of a city-wide flag day essay contest sponsored by the Elks titled, "What The Flag Means To Me."

One fifth grader from each local elementary school was chosen as a winner.
