A power outage that has knocked out 9,737 CL&P customers in Meriden, according to a company outage map, has blackened streetlights at this major intersection, along with power in other area streets, including Parker Ave. Police with flares are now monitoring the area, but it is still difficult to see.

At about 11:10 p.m. the Meriden Police desk sergeant said he didn't know what had caused the outage, and that officers were waiting for CL&P to respond.
