Flood Watch Issued For Meriden Area

The National Weather Service expects up to 3.5 more inches of rain to hit the region.

Keep tabs on the basement tonight. The National Weather Service has issued a flood watch for Northern and Southern New Haven County through late Wednesday night.

The NWS is predicting that rain and isolated thunderstorms will drop 2.5 to 3.5 inches of rainfall on the area.

"These periods of heavy rain will likely cause some urban flooding this afternoon, however as soils become saturated and streams and rivers begin to fill, minor flooding of some rivers is possible by late tonight and Wednesday morning," said a release from the state Department of Emergency Management & Homeland Security.
