As of 5:15 p.m. CL&P was reporting that just 21 people in the city were without power.

City Hall Closed

City Hall is closed today, Monday, Oct. 29 and Tuesday, Oct. 30. Only essential City of Meriden personnel should report to work on Monday and Tuesday.

Emergency Call Information

Emergency Phone Calls should go to 9-1-1. Concerns regarding sheltering, flooding, special assistance needs should go to the Emergency Operations Center 203-634-4600.

Westfield Meriden Mall to Close

Due to severe weather, Westfield Meriden is closing today at 12:30 p.m. Sears plans to remain open -please contact the store individually for additional information. 

State Highways Closed

Gov. Malloy orders road closures for all state highways. Closing will be implemented in 2 phases. At 11am, trucks prohibited from limited access highways. At 1pm, state highways closed to all non-emergency related vehicles.

CT Transit Will Not Run Monday

Due to the expected weather impact of Hurricane Sandy, regular scheduled CTTRANSIT local or express bus services will NOT operate on Monday, October 29.

Shelter Open at Washington Middle School

An emergency shelter at Washington Middle School, 1225 North Broad Street will be open starting at 8:00a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2012.

Meriden Health Department If you are leaving home to stay with friends, family, or at a shelter or warming center, remember to bring your prescription and non-prescription medications, including insulin and testing supplies. You should also bring enough personal supplies to stay for 48 hours - personal care items, clothing, entertainment (books, cards), snacks.

Meriden Children First Meeting Cancelled

The Meriden Children First Annual Meeting and Local Debate Scheduled for Monday, 10/29 has been postponed until further notice.

Transfer Station Closed

Meriden Transfer Station will be CLOSED Monday, October 29, 2012.

Meriden Public Schools Closed

Meriden Public Schools will be closed Monday, October 29, 2012 and Tuesday, October 30, 2012.
