About 785 Connecticut Light and Power customers were without power in Meriden at 4:21 p.m., according to the company's outage map.

"We have reports of the heavy rains knocking down loose limbs in Meriden and throughout our service area," said CL&P Spokesman Mitch Gross by e-mail Wednesday. The October snowstorm in the city left many trees in poor shape with cracked branches.

Crews are out working on outages right now, Gross said. Customers wanting to know when their power will be restored can call 800-286-2000 for outage updates or log into their accounts online at www.cl-p.com.
