Patch Picks: A Host of Holiday Events This Weekend

Meriden has a number of opportunities for holiday shopping and giving this weekend.

'Tis the time to start thinking about holiday giving. There are three annual holiday fairs in Meriden on Saturday that offer gifts, decorations, baked goods and cheer – and a separate event in South Meriden that provides folks a great chance to give back.

Where/When: Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Augusta Curtis Cultural Center, 175 E Main St, Meriden

Why Go: There will be arts, crafts and baked goods at this annual event. And fair-goers can bid on a number of trees, wreaths and centerpieces on display that were donated by local businesses and nonprofit organizations for the center's .

Where/When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wilcox Technical High School, 298 Oregon Rd., Meriden

Why Go: The annual event will feature craft vendors and a raffle, and proceeds will go to trade scholarships for the school's 2012 graduating class.

Where/When: Saturday, 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Franciscan Life Center, 271 Finch Ave., Meriden.

Why Go: There will be Franciscan breads, jams and other homemade foods, Connecticut-grown Christmas trees, hand-decorated wreaths for your homes and early holiday shopping. Proceeds from the fair benefit the programs and services of the Franciscan Life Center and Franciscan Home Care and Hospice Care.

Where/When: Saturday, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the South Meriden Volunteer Fire House at 30 Camp St., Meriden

Why Go: The turkeys will go to the YMCA's Thanksgiving Day Dinner, feeding folks from the community who are in need, and the toys will go to local families Meriden's Emergency Responders have chosen to help in this year's Spirit of Giving Campaign. (Click here for our story on )
