Former Meriden-Wallingford Librarian Succumbs to Pancreatic Cancer

Joan Zawoiski Lewis also gave winning pep talk to Women's UCONN Basketball team in game against Duke this year.

Joan Zawoiski Lewis, a former children's librarian in Meriden and Wallingford died of pancreatic cancer on Saturday, May 7, in Charlottesville, Va., according to both the Times-Leader and Citizen's Voice of Wilkes-Barre, PA.

Lewis, during the 20 months following her initial diagnosis, reportedly completed a "bucket list" of items, like seeing the Women's UCONN Basketball team play in this year's NCAA tournament, and also asked friends and family throughout the world to do good deeds in her honor.
