Summer Olympics, 8 p.m., NBC

Tonight, Gymnastics: women's team competition; swimming, finals: men's 100m breaststroke, men's 4x100m freestyle relay, women's 100m butterfly, women's 400m freestyle; diving: women's synchronized springboard final.

Big Brother, 8 p.m., CBS

Want to torture your kids? Lean in real close at some point today and whisper in their sunburned little ear, “School starts in a month.”

Masterpiece Mystery, 9 p.m., PBS (check listings)

Tonight Inspector Lewis has this case: “An American academic is found strangled after giving a lecture at Oxford.” Possibly for grammatical reasons?
