What's On Tonight: 'Survivor: South Pacific,' 'Harry's Law,' 'The X-Factor'

TV tips for Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011

"Survivor: South Pacific," 8 p.m., CBS

I find this season excruciatingly dull, although the 10-year-old is steadfastly sticking with it. The only hope tonight is that the cockroach-y guy who was semi on the chopping block last week (is his name Conrad?) might become interesting tonight. Ratings are down, and for good reason.

"Harry’s Law," 9 p.m., NBC

I was not a fan of this last year (although I love Kathy Bates, so settle down, all you Kathy Bates fans! Man, they write means emails), but now I am presented with a conundrum: my beloved Christopher Chance from Human Target has been cast. Yes, Mark Valley, he of the squarest jaw and bluest eyes, is on a show I don’t like! I’m going to try again. That’s how much I love him.

"The X-Factor," 8 p.m., Fox

Boot Camp! It’s like the Vegas part of SYTYCD. There will be lots of tears. Unlike Dance, no broken bones. At least I hope not.
