A Little Blast from the Past at Meriden's Engine Co. 3

Check out Meriden's bravest as they were more than a half century earlier.

For years, the Meriden Fire Department’s Engine Co. 3 or “The Uptown Express” has been an active part of the community.

Over the weekend, members of the Uptown Express posted the historic photo shown above on the station’s Facebook page and it garnered not only numerous likes, but conversations from the community with memories of how the station used to be.

“My dad and his family lived right next door,” Loretta Edson Parisi said on the Uptown Express Facebook page. “He told me many stories about the kindness of firemen that they showed him and his two brothers when he was little. Gramma Edson would make them lemon meringue pies as a thank you.”

Take a look at the historic photo and let us know; what is your fondest memory of Meriden’s firefighters helping the community?
