Hartford Man Arrested in Connection With February Home Robbery

Police said Nathaniel Perez was one of three who broke into an occupied home in February, looked for items to steal, then knocked out the homeowner when he approached them a short time later.

A Hartford man is facing multiple charges in a February home robbery in which officers said he and two others knocked a homeowners unconscious after the victim found them attempting to rob his house on Goodwill Avenue, police said.

Officers served a warrant on Nathaniel Perez, of 60 Dexter St. in Hartford, Tuesday after they said an investigation tied him and his accomplices to the Feb. 7 incident. Perez, 22, was arraigned in Meriden Superior Court on charges including second-degree robbery, third-degree robbery, first-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery, two counts of second-degree assault and third-degree assault.

“The arrest is the third in connection with a February incident that occurred inside a Meriden home,” Lt. Sal Nesci said. “When they entered the home, the homeowner was in the basement at the time. As he approached them on the second floor, they assaulted him to a point where it knocked the victim out cold.”

A police report said the victim was treated for injuries following the incident and spoke with detectives, identifying one of the suspects.

The suspects escaped with the homeowners rent money, cash that was in his bedroom, as well as a Playstation video game console.

After an investigation, Meriden police arrested city resident Justin Arroyo, 21, in March. The investigation also led to the arrest of a third person, a juvenile, Nesci said. Both Perez and Arroyo are also facing charges stemming from a December robbery was well.

For Perez, the legal trouble continues. Perez was arrested in 2011 in connection with another Meriden robbery and convicted on one count of conspiracy to commit second-degree robbery. He served 20 months in prison and was released early on good behavior, according to court records. He was serving a three-year probation period when the latest incident occurred.

Perez is currently being held at the Osborn Correctional Institution in lieu of $90,000 in court-set bonds, according to Connecticut Department of Correction records. He is due back in court on Aug. 7.
