Hazmat Spill Contained Thursday at 3M

Meriden fire and state environmental personnel responded to the spill, a mixture of water and methanol, according to news agencies.

Emergency personnel were called to the on Research Parkway on Thursday morning after a call came in about a possible hazardous materials spill at the research facility.

personnel, along with officials from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responded to the scene and discovered that several hundred gallons of a liquid methanol and water mixture had spilled but was contained, according to reports in the Hartford Courant and on WFSB.

No one was injured as a result of the spill, the news agencies reported.

3M Purification designs and produces water and gas filtration and purification products for the health care and food and beverage industries, as well as residential and industrial settings.
