Madison Bank Robbery Suspect Arrested, Police Say Could Be Tied to Meriden Robbery

East Haven man is also a suspect in bank robberies in Waterbury, Essex and Plainfield.

Madison and North Branford police arrested an East Haven man in connection with the robbery of banks in both towns on Friday – saying he is a suspect in a , and others in Waterbury, Essex and Plainfield.

Meriden Police spokesman Det. Lt. Mark Walerysiak could only confirm Friday afternoon that the city's detective division was still actively sorting through leads on the TD Bank Robbery that occured last Tuesday, on Nov. 29, and as of yet had made no arrests.

In Madison, Christopher Bishop, DOB 09/11/1974, of 41 Philip Street in East Haven, was charged with third-degree larceny and breach of peace in the on October 18.

Bishop was also charged with third-degree larceny and breach of peace in connection with the October 5th robbery of the First Niagara Bank in North Branford.

The arrest was made by the Madison Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the North Branford Police Department Criminal Investigation Division. The two departments also worked with the Plainfield Police Department, New Haven Office of the FBI and Members of the Connecticut State Police.

Bishop was held on a $250,000 court set bond on the Madison charges and is scheduled to appear in GA 23 in New Haven on 12-12-2011.

Bishop is being held on a $100,000 court set bond on the North Branford charges.
