A motorcycle accident on I-691 early Friday morning sent one man to the hospital with serious injuries.
According to state police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance, a call came in at 8:16 a.m. with a report of an accident in the Exit 11 area. The driver was reportedly taken to the nearby police academy before being airlifted, via a LifeStar helicopter, to Hartford Hospital, police said.
Police have yet to identify the victim, whose injuries were listed as "serious," Vance said.
The Record-Journal newspaper reported that the man was out there for nine hours before being found by city firefighters. Vance initially said this wasn't accurate, however he said officials are still on scene determining what happened.
Exit 11 leads on to I-91, and sits a short drive away from the town line between Meriden and Middlefield.
