Meriden Blotter: Prostitution, Drug Possession

Middletown police arrest two Meriden residents.

THIRD-DEGREE PROMOTING PROSTITUTION — On May 22 at 7:24 p.m., street crime police were canvassing Main and Washington streets in an unmarked car and saw Jennifer A. Corraro, 39, of Main Street, a known prostitute, the report says, sitting on a building’s steps. Police say she got into the car after the officer made eye contact with her and she offered oral sex for money. Two other officers pulled the car over. The report says she admitted she has a drug habit and is a prostitute to support it. At 6:41 p.m., the same officer stopped at Grand and Pearl streets and made eye contact with Karen Fiedler, 34, of Colony Street, Meriden, who the report says was scantily dressed. She agreed to perform oral sex for money and they drove to North Main Street, where the same two officers pulled them over, according to the report. The report states she admitted to being a crack cocaine user and had already that day performed a sexual act for money in Middletown, but is waiting to get into a drug treatment center at Connecticut Valley Hospital. Fieldler is a convicted felon with arrests for prostitution, possession of narcotics,  possession of drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.

SECOND-DEGREE BREACH OF PEACE — On May 15 at 1:32 p.m., police were called to the South Green Apartments on Church Street on a report that a man had assaulted a woman in the front lobby. Video surveillance showed Jerry Barron, 47, of Columbia Street, Meriden, and a woman enter the building. Barron, the report states, was seen on the video turning and shoving the woman back out the door and then striking her in the face, the report says. The incident appeared to scare many residents who witnessed it. Barron, the report states, then went to a fourth-floor apartment. There, Barron told officers, the woman was drunk and he didn’t want her inside; he denied they were dating. Police could not find the woman. Barron was charged with 2nd degree breach of peace.
