Meriden Citgo Store Clerk Shot, Killed Wednesday Morning

Meriden Police are looking for a white male in his late 20s who is alleged to have shot the clerk after demanding money.

Meriden Police are searching for an unidentified man who allegedly shot and killed a clerk at the East Main Street Citgo station early Wednesday morning.

At about 1:30 a.m. the unidentified white man entered the gas station convenience store at 271 E. Main St. and pointed a handgun at the clerk working the cash register and demanded money, according to police.

An unidentified witness who was inside the store at the time of the robbery, told police that once the man received an undisclosed amount of money he shot the clerk in the chest and then ran out of the store. Upon arrival, officers found the male clerk has sustained serious injuries. The clerk was transported to Midstate Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to police.

The alleged shooter is described as a white male, 5’9”-5’10”, with a husky build. He is 28-30 years old and has clean cut, dark hair. He is also described to have “bulging eyes” and was wearing a gray/black T-shirt with lettering on it, white or tan shorts, and black sneakers.

Police believe that left the scene on foot.

At this point, detectives are securing a search warrant for the store. They are also in the process of looking for video from surveillance cameras. Should any video be forthcoming, it will most likely be forwarded to the media in order to gain public assistance.
