Meriden Couple Charged with Multiple Counts of Sexual Abuse of Minors

Just days after youth football coach Curtis Rogers was arrested, his wife faces similar charges.

Rhode Island State Police have charged a Meriden couple with multiple counts of sexual assault of minors. Curtis and Crystal Rogers, of 96 Franklin Street, were arrested after a 15-year-old boy told his parents that he and two of his friends had been abused, according to Rhode Island State Police Captain James O. Demers.

Curtis Rogers, 37, was a youth football coach and part-time judo instructor in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where he lived until he and his wife moved to Meriden about 6 months ago. He was arrested last Tuesday on multiple counts of first-degree sexual assault and child molestation and is being held without bail, Demers told Patch. He is scheduled to appear at a hearing in Kent County Courthouse in Warwick, Rhode Island, on July 7. He could face 10 years to life in prison if convicted of all charges.

Crystal Rogers, 29, was out of the country on vacation when her husband was arrested. She was charged yesterday on three counts of third-degree sexual assault of minors, Demers added. Her bail has been set at $25,000 surety—she must post 10 percent of that to be released.

So far, eight youth between the ages of 12 and 17 have come forward accusing the Rogers couple of abuse. Rhode Island State Police are still in the process of interviewing them, Demers reported.

"They were preying on innocent children," Demers said of the couple. “I give a lot of credit to the kid who came forward. That took a lot of courage.”
