As temperatures inch back up above freezing that ice on lakes is getting thinner — and more dangerous.
With that in mind, Meriden Fire Local 1148 took to its Facebook page Wednesday to remind residents to be careful if they go out on frozen lakes around the city, as the ice is starting to melt and become thin.
Just in case, all four Meriden Fire Department shifts are taking part in cold water/ice rescue training this week to be ready for these types of potential emergencies.
