Meriden Man Sentenced to Federal Prison For Illegal Firearms

Twice-convicted felon was arrested in March for having a semi-automatic handgun.

A Meriden man was sentenced to almost two years in federal prison Wednesday for unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

Larry Lee, 30, formerly of Broad Street in Meriden, was sentenced to 21 months in prison with three years of supervised release by U.S. District Judge Stefan R. Underhill in Bridgeport on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Attorneys office in Connecticut. 

Police found a Ruger P90DC .45 caliber semiautomatic handgun and 20 rounds of .45 caliber ammunition in Lee's home while acting on a search warrant December 15, 2010. During the same search, they also seized more than eight pounds of marijuana, more than $28,000 in U.S. currency, drug packaging materials and an electronic money counter, according to the U.S. Attorney.

Lee has been convicted twice before of felony offenses, which makes it illegal for him to have a firearm that has “moved in interstate or foreign commerce,” according to the U.S. States Attorney.

He was arrested on March 22, 2011 and has been in federal custody since then.

Lee on May 13, 2010 to the charge. The maximum allowable punishment was 10 years in prison.

Meriden Police along with the DEA, ATF, and other local departments investigated this case.
