Meriden PD Searching for Armed Robber Who Allegedly Tried to Stab Clerk

Police are looking for a man they say could be a repeat armed robber.

Meriden Police are asking the public for help in locating a man they say tried to stab a gas station clerk during a robbery Tuesday night.

Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Citgo Gas station on Chamberlain Highway in Meriden at about 8:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 13, according to Det. Dean Benoit.

According to police, and as it appears in a video of the scene (video stills can be seen in photos to the right), the suspect, a 6-foot tall white male, tried to stab the clerk before he made off with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect escaped the scene before Police arrived, either on foot or by walking to a waiting vehicle, Benoit said. The clerk was uninjured.

The suspect has reddish brown hair, and was wearing a dark hooded shirt, blue jeans and a grey mask over his face. He appears to have a tattoo on his left forearm, ending at the wrist.

The same man is also a suspect in another armed robbery that occured the day before, police said. At 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 12, a man with a knife robbed the Victory Market at Springdale and Windsor Avenues.
