Meriden Police Seeking Man in Wednesday Armed Robbery

Police said a man in an orange shirt approached an attendant at the Stop and Shop gas station around 9 p.m. Wednesday night and said he had a gun before demanding cash. Can you help identify the man?

Detectives are seeking help from the public in identifying a man they said was involved in a possible armed robbery at the Stop and Shop Gas Station on West Main Street Wednesday night.

Sgt. Darring McKay said around 9 p.m., the man approached an attendant at the customer pay station near the gas pumps, his hand is his pocket, and told the attendant that he had a gun before demanding cash. No gun was displayed in the incident.

“The employee was caught off guard but did comply with the suspect,” McKay said in a press release. “An undetermined amount of cash was taken. The suspect then fled on foot in an unknown direction.”

The suspect was captured on camera and a photo released by the Meriden Police Department shown above provides insight into who the male may be.

He is described as being in his mid-30s and standing between 5 feet, 10 inches tall and 6 feet tall with short, light brown hair and some facial hair. He was wearing an orange shirt at the time of the incident and is believed to be a white male.

Anyone with information regarding the robbery or who may be able to identify the suspect is asked to contact Det. Joe Robinson of the Meriden Police Department Detective Division at (203) 630-6267. Police said all calls will be kept confidential.
