Middletown Police: Meriden Man Arrested After 'Flipping Out' at Subway

Middletown Police blotter features Meriden man in odd crime.

A Meriden man was arrested in a Middletown Subway restaurant last week, after allegedly "flipping out" at an employee after she told him he couldn't refill someone else's drink cup for himself, according to Middletown Police.

Lonnie D. Ellison, 32, of Gravel Street in Meriden, was arrested and charged with sixth-degree larceny and disorderly conduct on June 30.

According to Middletown Police logs, an employee of the Subway restaurant on South Main Street in Middletown said that Ellison "complained loudly" about the price of his sandwich and said that a salesclerk was treating him rudely.

Ellison paid for his sandwich and sat down at a table, according to the log. Another customer who was leaving gave the man his drink cup.

Despite the salesclerk telling Ellison he would have to pay for any refills of the cup, the man allegedly refilled it and then according to the logs "flipped out" at the clerk -- swearing and calling her a racist.

When Middletown Police responded to the scene they allegedly found Ellison "yelling and being uncooperative and aggressive," police logs said.

Ellison was released by Middletown Police on a $2,500 bond and was due in court Thursday.
