Middletown Woman Arrested on Murder Charge of Meriden Resident

Meriden detectives took Melissa Ziemba into custody Wednesday evening on charges that she murdered city resident Richard West back in February.

Middletown resident Melissa Ziemba is facing charges of murder and criminal use of a firearm in connection with the homicide of Meriden resident Richard West, who .

In a news release issued Wednesday evening, Meriden police said they took Ziemba, of 207 Crystal Lake Road, into custody around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday after she was served a warrant from the State's Attorney's Office in New Haven.

The arrest stems from a Feb. 3 incident in which West was found shot to death inside his Olive Street home. Police said Ziemba, 42, and West lived at the home at the time of the incident, although they declined to provide further details on their relationship.

Ziemba was arrested without incident. She is being held at the Meriden Police Department on a $750,000 court-set bond and will appear in Meriden Superior Court Thursday morning.
