It was come to a point that Meriden needs to enforce a curfew. Majority of the crimes committed are after hours when children should be home already.

Every one knows 90% of the time police get called to a scene, rarely do they happen to see a crime in progress...maybe parents should enforce their own curfew like I do....tellem be home by 9, dinner can be served at 9, lock the door all the hardheaded kids can starv and freeze ...u will be surprised how qwik they catchon expecially in the winter its cold out there....stop waiting for other people to keep your kids in line!! As for the police nothin really gets done in any city until somethin happens to them personaly,,example, stop signs on center st. because a police officer got hit, so until then ToughLove, getem all in the house when the sun goes down, chances are they will live longer..

people need to stop blaming the police. The explosion of welfare and the people who abuse it are the problem. People who have no respect for anything have no respect for life. People who believe they are entitled to a free living have no sense of value, not even for life. The government is at fault for wanting votes and making these people rely on them

I read somewhere that this poor child had to stay elsewhere for a few years other than with his parents. Its a shame . I truly hope they catch his killer .

I think the Mayor needs to speak out and explain what is going on and why and what is their plan to fix this problem. We don't hear from him during any of this? Why? Where's our leaders and people getting very VERY BIG paychecks to serve this city? I'm fed up.

Dejen de estar culpado ala policia. Ellos hacen su trabajo. Ustedes los padres tienen q diciplinar mejor a sus hijos y ver quienes son los amigos de sus hijos y en q ellos andan. No dejarlos al garrete..

If any of you so called educated people on this page read all of these updates. You would see that the way The Meriden Police Department handled this case you would see that their was not a proper investigation. On that note, this incident happened between 9 p.m. and 9:30p.m. correct. So why is it that, this MONSTER kills one child, critically injured another could run, catch a 10p.m. bus across the street. Manage to throw away any evidence of himself away. 20+ hours later first turns himself in, no wait, then the police said they went to his residence. Which one is it. Then, the statements from thes kid witnesses from 100 yards away.I hope the parents were in on that conversation. But the way the meriden p.d. does their jobs, I doubt it. Because listen to the 911 calls. 2 out of the 3 calls were from two of the kid witnesses, who states that they saw NOTHING. Not even then Murderer that did this. Wait, didn't he say ran to the hospital? Why couldn't the kids ID this trash? if what they saw was clear enough to make a statement.

Actually the kids that got stabbed started the fight and the man that stabbed them was defending himself. The stabbing itself was not caught on camera but the kids jumping out and hitting the man who was walking to the bus stop was caught on camera. The man also called the police after he saw it on the news. Nobody should judge this man for what he did when you weren't the one in the situation. You never know how you will react until it happens to you. In this mans case he carried a small pocket knife to protect himself because he was picked on and beat up his whole life. I myself carry a knife and if I felt like my life was being threatened, I would use it too. I feel bad that someone so young lost their life but he picked a fight with the wrong person...

@CrystalW, the fact that he ran away supposedly, and did not report a crime until 20+hrs later supposedly, clearly shows that you are trying to hide a crime. The fact that the mpd had to search and find you clearly states another. So with that being said, it clearly shows again, that he most likely waited to sober up and come up with a ridiculious statement. Question: Where did you see a video? Because, I remember the police making a statement about a video but never releasing it. Furthermore, they said that the video was dark and not that visible. So, again what video. I was a person who was bullied, beat up sliced in the face for no reason at all but I don't carry a knife. That's what the police are here for. Have a lovely evening.
