Overnight Fire Damages Vacant 3-Story Home on Windsor Avenue

No injuries were reported. The fire marshal is investigating.

 

Meriden firefighters responded to a fire at a vacant three-story wood home at 74 Windsor Ave. at 11:43 p.m. Tuesday, according to Meriden Fire Chief James Trainor. The fire was called in by a Meriden police officer patrolling the area.

Engines 1, 2 and 3, ladder truck 1 and the fire chief arrived on the scene to find the front porch engulfed in flames, Trainor said. An additional fire company was then called in.

Firefighters knocked the fire down in 25 to 30 minutes and fully extinguished it in about 45 minutes, Trainor added.

No injuries were reported. The porch and first floor of the unoccupied structure sustained heavy damage. The second floor also had some damage, Trainor described.

The fire marshal is still investigating the cause of the fire, according to Trainor.
