PD: No Leads Yet in Friday's Hit-And-Run

Police are still searching for the driver accused of hitting a 17-year-old girl on Hanover Ave.

 

Meriden Police said Wednesday that they have no leads on the identity of last Friday on Hanover Avenue and South Second Street.

Police say the girl, whose name they're not releasing due to her age, has been released from St. Mary's Hospital and is convalescing at home after receiving several staples to the back of the head, according to the Department's Spokesman Det. Lt. Mark Walerysiak.

The girl reportedly was crossing Hanover Street from south to north last Friday just before 11 p.m. when she was hit by a car headed west on Hanover Street.

When police arrived, they found her lying near the sidewalk, complaining of severe head pain.

Two witnesses described the car as a small, two-door red vehicle. Police believe the car has a damaged front end and that the windshield may also have damage to it. They are asking anyone with information on the incident or the car to contact Meriden Police at 203-630-6215.
