PD: Woman Accused of Busting Up Man's Car After Argument

A Meriden woman is accused of keying, breaking off mirrors, and popping the tire on the car of man she had an argument with.

A 23-year-old woman was arrested and charged with felony criminal mischief after allegedly causing thousands of dollars of damage to a man's car after a disagreement the two had in a Meriden hotel.

Police say Sofia Figueroa, 97 Spring Street in Meriden had an argument overnight Wednesday with a man she appeared to be staying with at the Extended Stay Hotel at 366 Bee St., in Meriden.

The man got into his car and drove to the adjacent hotel and checked in there, Police Spokesman Det. Lt. Mark Walerysiak said.

Figueroa saw the car in a nearby lot, and allegedly began vandalizing it, according to police.

She reportedly "keyed it, scraped off paint on the side, broke the mirrors on both sides of the vehicle, popped one of the tires with a nail trimmer," Walerysiak said.

An officer patrolling the area reported seeing Figueroa walking around "acting suspiciously" and noticed a small amount of blood on her finger, which she reportedly received from popping the tire.

The officer stopped her, and police say, Figueroa admitted what she had done.

Police say the woman caused "several thousand dollars of damage on the vehicle."

Figueroa was arrested and charged with first degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. She was held on $5,000 bond with an April 12 court date.

Correction: We originally said Figueroa was from Windsor Locks. The woman is actually from Meriden according to police logs. The error has been corrected in the copy.
