Meriden Woman Struck and Killed by Train in Wallingford

The Meriden Fire Department has confirmed that a person was struck by a train in Wallingford just over the town line from Meriden.

According to several media outlets, the name of the woman struck and killed by a train in Wallingford just over the Meriden line has been released.

Lynn Patricia Bickford, 43, of Meriden, died on the tracks Monday. The Meriden Medical Examiner's Office has ruled the death a suicide.

The incident occured near Old Colony Road, and happened around 11 a.m.

According to an Amtrak Service Alert, the woman was hit by train #470, a New Haven to Springfield Shuttle that had 40 passengers and crew members aboard. None of those on the train were reportedly injured, according to the alert. The train was stopped in Meriden until early afternoon Monday, as Amtrak, local police, and the Medical Examiner's Office spent Monday investigating the incident.

The Meriden Fire Department assisted the Wallingford Fire Department with the incident.
