Police Arrest Home Invasion Suspect

A man suspected of robbing a senior citizen at knife point in his Meriden apartment was located by police in Hartford Tuesday.

 

The November home invasion suspect Meriden Police had in finding earlier this month was arrested by police in Hartford early Tuesday morning.

Hartford Police stopped Christopher Thompson, 24, of 298 Barber Street, Hartford, early morning Tuesday. Officers ran his information, and found two outstanding warrants for him from Meriden, Meriden Police Spokesman Det. Lt. Mark Walerysiak said Tuesday morning.

Walerysiak said he wasn't sure why Thompson was initially stopped. Police transported the man to Meriden, where he was processed at about 2:45 a.m.

Thompson is a suspect in both a  at Willow Towers and an October burglary at the Elks Club.

Police say Thompson allegedly broke into the apartment of a man in his seventies at Willow Towers last November, and robbed him at knife point. The victim also had his arm broken and was punched in the face during the attack, police said.

Thompson is also charged with burglarizing the Elks Club in Meriden at the end of October, during city-wide blackouts caused by last fall's freak snowstorm.

Thompson is charged with home invasion, first degree robbery, first degree burglary, second degree larceny, carrying a dangerous weapon, third degree assault, third degree assault of the elderly, and second degree threatening.

He was scheduled to be in Meriden Superior Court Tuesday, and held on a $150,000 bond for the home invasion, and a $20,000 bond for the burglary.
