Authorities are investigating the body discovered last week near Mt. Higby Reservoir off Route 66 would only describe the deceased as a male they had searched for for part of the afternoon.

Desmond says the man has been identified and his family notified and does not expect to release any further information on this case.

On Dec. 3 at 3 p.m., Middletown Police assisted Meriden Police with a suspicious motor vehicle when a canine track was initiated. The track eventually led authorities to the body, according to a press release.

Firefighters from the Middletown Fire Department, Westfield Fire Department and a police officer from Middlefield helped in the search and recovery, police said.
