Police Searching for Suspect in Arthur's Cordial Shop Armed Robbery

A man robbed a clerk at gunpoint and fled with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.

Meriden Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a clerk at gunpoint at Arthur's Cordial Shoppe Friday afternoon.

Police responded to the liquor store at 201 South Broad Street at about 1:02 p.m. Friday, responding to a panic alarm from the shop, said Meriden Police spokesman Det. Lt. Mark Walerysiak in a press statement Friday evening.

When they arrived, the clerk told police he had just been robbed at gunpoint, according to Walerysiak. The clerk was uninjured, and the suspect reportedly stole away on foot with cash. The amount of money was not revealed.

Police describe the suspect as a black man who was wearing a black ski mask, along with a black jacket, black sweater, black footwear and blue jeans. He allegedly was carrying a black semi-automatic handgun, and witnesses last saw him going toward 203 and 211 South Broad Street.

A canine unit was called in to search for the man, along with officers, but police had not located him as of 6 p.m. Friday.
