The 20-year-old man who stabbed and killed 15-year-old Deandre Felton, and wounded 13-year-old DaShawn Jones, spoke with The Record-Journal newspaper about his side of the case.
The man, whom the newspaper only refers to as “G” in the article, said he was acting in self-defense when he pulled a knife on Felton and Jones. The man, who worked at the Westfield mall, was walking home on Kensington Avenue when the two youths jumped him, police said.
“It wasn’t like I got away with it,” G told the newspaper. “I was nervous because I know what I did.”
Months after the stabbing, New Haven State’s Attorney Michael Dearington said no charges would be brought against the 20-year-old.
