TD Bank at 733 East Main Street Robbed

Police: A white male saying he had a weapon took an undisclosed amount of money from TD Bank this afternoon.

Meriden Police are searching right now for the man who robbed the TD Bank at 733 East Main St. in Meriden this afternoon, making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

A white male wearing a black bandana and gloves reportedly walked up to a female teller after 4 p.m. and told her he had a weapon, Acting Liutenant Jeffrey Herget said. The man never showed a weapon, Herget said.

The suspect reportedly exited through the bank's back door, and through the back parking lot to Swain Ave. Police believe there he may have gotten into an older, red boxy car parked nearby. They do not know whether or not the suspect or another person was driving the vehicle.

Police arrived at the bank at about 4:30 p.m. A K-9 unit from Hamden was brought in to track the robber, but the search recovered nothing, Herget said.

Tellers, and police said one customer, were still giving statements inside at 5:30 p.m. as officers took photos and inspected the scene. Because the suspect was wearing gloves, Herget said, police doubt they will find fingerprints.
