Democrat Chris Donovan of Meriden, Speaker of the Connecticut House of Representatives, recently wrote an op-ed piece supporting the Buffet Rule for tax relief. The rule would mandate a minimum tax rate of 30 percent for income over $1 million.
Donovan argues that it isn't fair for millionaires to pay a lower tax rate than the middle class, and that the rule would provide tax relief for many Americans and shore up programs like Social Security and Medicare. But Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate are blocking the measure.
