City Adds Facebook Page, RSS Feed to Social Media Push

The page is part of a new effort, spurred by October's freak nor'easter, by the city to use social media to keep in touch with residents, according to Meriden's MIS Director Steve Montemurro.

The City of Meriden launched its official Facebook page Monday afternoon, logging almost 50 "likes" in its first hour live.

The page is part of a new effort, spurred by October's freak nor'easter, by the city to keep in touch with residents, Meriden Patch in mid-November.

In early November, the city launched its Twitter page, and later in the month an RSS feed for special announcements. The Facebook page, much like the Twitter feed, will give updates from the city, including committee meetings and cancellations, and special events, according to Meriden's MIS Director Steve Montemurro.

"With so much currently happening in Meriden – from holiday events to the beginning of the Downtown Revitalization program – the Facebook page will help Meriden citizens make sure they don't miss a thing," Montemurro said in a press release.
