City Democrats To Hold Nominating Convention Monday Night

Meriden's Democratic Town Committee will select its candidates for the upcoming November election.

The Meriden Democratic Town Committee will hold its nominating convention this Monday night to pick candidates for the upcoming November 8 elections, Committee Chair Mildred Torres-Ferguson said Saturday.

The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Augusta Curtis Cultural Center. The party can nominate candidates for the following seats: Mayor, six City Council seats, four Board of Education slots and City Clerk.

City Republicans on Wednesday of last week. The two major parties have to submit candidates to the state by a July 26 deadline. Third parties have a later deadline this fall.
